Turn Your Tiny Treasures into Revolutionary Art with The Ephemera Project!

  • Boston Public Library, Teen Central (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Every object shares a story: what tiny treasures in your life are the most precious? In her work The Ephemera Project, artist Tanja Hollander collects and displays meaningful objects from a variety of people from all walks of life, inviting them to create a digital keepsake that will bond the object to its meaning for the owner and the world to see.

On two separate March dates, Tanja will visit Teen Central and invite teen patrons to share their own objects––their own stories––to form a record for themselves, their communities, as well as the global stage.

Feel free to take a look at some of the tiny treasures Tanja has collected from BPL staff thus far at her website: https://www.tanjahollander.com/bpl.

Teens do not need to register and may show up to Teen Central at any time the event is active. To participate, teens should come equipped with at least one small item that has value to them, preferably no larger than a piece of paper. Participating teens will be asked to write a short anecdote explaining their items' stories to potential audiences (or just for themselves). When publishing their works (which may require parental permission––see below!), teens may choose any level of anonymity that they are comfortable with.

Teens under 18 will need parent/guardian consent before any work can be published. Please direct all questions and concerns to Teen Central Team Lead Chris Jacobs at cjacobs@bpl.org

Accessibility Notice: We strive to make our events accessible. To request a disability accommodation and/or language services, contact the department listed in the "Contact Info" pane on the right. Please allow at least two weeks to arrange accommodation.

Suitable for: Teens (Ages 13-18)
