When I find dead things my impulse is to preserve and pay homage to the fallen beauty. She has served as a prop during studio visits (oh I’m such a wacko weird artist, I keep dead bugs!) and as a reminder of how many unfinished and half-assed projects I have lying around. But she also reminds me that I’m essentially an optimist, preserving the crumbling sea green wings until they disintegrate into dust. “
